Nearby trails greet walkers in May, June

Walkers can explore two regional trails with Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Program this summer, including:

  • Eisenhower State Park: Enjoy a ranger-guided walk of the pristine Eisenhower State Park in Osage County followed by a drive through the park. Walk will be on a gravel-packed natural trail. Lunch at Applebee’s afterward with lunch costs on your own. Thursday, May 12. $31/$33 nonresidents. Departs at 8 a.m.
  • Baker Wetlands: Take a guided hike through the Baker Wetlands Trail in Douglas County. Walk will be on a gravel-packed and mowed grass natural trail After, enjoy time in the Discovery Center and gift shop. Lunch will be at Mr. Brew’s Taphouse with lunch costs on your own. Thursday, June 16. $31/$33 nonresidents. Departs at 9:15 a.m.

Transportation for both walks departs from Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam.
