Johnson County residents of all ages are invited to enjoy A Day in the Park on June 4 at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road.

It is a free day-long celebration of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District's community’s trails, parks and recreational spaces.

There will be free admission to the Shawnee Mission Park Beach, which will be open from noon - 6 p.m.

At the Shawnee Mission Park Marina, participants can enjoy free one-hour pedal boat, kayak and paddleboard rentals from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Availability is limited and advance reservations are highly encouraged. Reservations can be made online up to seven days in advance.

Concessions will be available for purchase at the Shawnee Mission Park Beach House.

The event is being held in conjunction with National Trails Day and coincides with JCPRD’s annual free fishing weekend when both Kansas and district fishing and boating permits are waived.
