Johnson County Area Agency on Aging

The mission of the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is to advocate for and assist older adults in maintaining their independence and dignity through community-based services. The AAA targets services to older adults with the greatest social and economic needs and provides a variety of support services for caregivers.

Peg Deaton Leadership in Aging Award Nominations

The Peg Deaton Leadership in Aging Award is an annual recognition presented by the Johnson County Commission on Aging. The award honors individuals or organizations that have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for older adults and their families in Johnson County. It is named in honor of Peg Deaton, a dedicated advocate for aging services in the community.

 

Nominations for the award are accepted through Sept. 30, 2025. The award will be presented in the fall, and the nomination process is open to all community members. Residents without internet access can request a nomination form by calling the Area Agency on Aging at 913-715-8860.

2024 Commission on Aging Members

The Commission on Aging is a voluntary group of individuals appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. The COA provides information, guidance, advice and support to the Johnson County Area Agency on Aging and serves as a liaison to the BOCC concerning the needs of older county residents and services to meet those needs.
