As we continue to monitor the decrease in COVID-19 positivity rates in Johnson county, we are updating our protocols related to potential exposure to a COVID-positive individual in our day service programs and when a quarantine period is required.

Program Changes Due To Delta Variant

This week three individuals supported by JCDS tested positive for COVID-19, resulting in a complete closure of our retirement program at the Elmore Center for both quarantine and sanitization purposes.

We are a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, and millions of people have now been vaccinated. This past week, the U.S. hit an important milestone of 100 million vaccinations.

I am very happy to be able to share a positive update as we approach the next phase of our Day Service transition process. As many of you are aware, the COVID-19 vaccine is now available for all JCDS staff, and last week JCDS hosted a vaccine clinic.

My COVID-19 Vaccination Journey

In the summer of 2020 when I heard two vaccines for COVID-19 were getting ready to start research trials, like many people, I was wary. I thought there is no way I will take either vaccine. I was determined to let others get the vaccination before I did so I could have more knowledge of the effects.
