Lanesfield features 1904 holiday

The Lanesfield Historic Site will deck its halls during the holiday season so Johnson County residents of all ages may experience a traditional 1904, old-fashioned Christmas.

The Lanesfield School Country Christmas will take place from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at the historic site, 18745 S. Dillie Road, Edgerton.

The free program includes letter writing to Santa with participants practicing their penmanship using the old-fashioned nib pen and inkwell. The Edgerton Rainbow Connection Children’s Choir will perform at 1:30 p.m., followed by a visit from Santa from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m., crafts and free refreshments.

The Lanesfield School, a National Historic Site since 1988, features a oneroom limestone schoolhouse, the last remaining structure in the bygone town of Lanesfield.

The historic site is operated by the Johnson County Museum is a department of the Johnson County Park and Recreation District.
