Residential DSPs At Work

Direct Support Professionals play a crucial role in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their quest to live and work in the community, rather than in institutional settings.

Depending on where they work, DSPs perform a multitude of tasks, including personal care, job coaching, appropriate medical/physical care, behavioral guidance, skills teaching, help with household tasks and so much more.

Johnson County Developmental Supports currently has multiple openings in the following programs:

  • Residential: evening, overnight and weekend shifts
  • Day Services: first shift – evening/weekend hours may occasionally be required

Competitive Pay

The starting pay for a DSP employed with Johnson County Government is $15.71 an hour! We also offer a $2 an hour weekend shift differential! 

With our competitive wage structure, your pay is based on your total human and/or social services experience. There are also opportunities for advancement so you can grow in your career with Johnson County Government.

Additionally, once you join our team you get a $1,000 hiring bonus*!

*Note: You receive $500 after completing orientation and $500 after successful completion of six months.

Training Provided

Experience is preferred but not required. We offer on-the-job training for new hires in addition to ongoing training and continuing education. Once you join our team, you'll find there are many opportunities for advancement. Start and grow your career with JCDS!
