Direct Support Professionals play a crucial role in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their quest to live and work in the community, rather than in institutional settings.
Depending on where they work, direct support professionals perform a multitude of tasks, including personal care, job coaching, appropriate medical/physical care, behavioral guidance, skills teaching, help with household tasks and so much more.
Johnson County Developmental Supports currently has multiple openings in the following programs:
- Residential: evening, overnight and weekend shifts
- Day Services: first shift (evening/weekend hours may occasionally be required)
The starting pay for a Direct Support Professional employed with Johnson County Government is $16.18 per hour! We also offer a $2 per hour weekend shift differential!
Those applicants with at least one year of experience are eligible for the Sr. DSP position with a starting wage of $19.61 per hour. Sr. DSPs are also eligible for a $2 per hour weekend shift differential.

Experience is preferred but not required. We offer paid on-the-job training for new hires in addition to ongoing training and continuing education.
