License Types

Class A General Contractor License

The Class “A” License entitles the company to construct, remodel, repair, and demolish any structure. A Class “A” licensed company or the company’s full-time employees may perform framing, roofing, swimming pool construction, non-structural remodeling, tenant finish, or repairs of all structures, regardless of occupancy or height. The Class “A” license does not entitle the licensed company to perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or fire protection service or work.

Class B Building Contractor License

The Class “B” License shall entitle the holder thereof to construct, remodel, repair, and demolish all structures not exceeding three (3) stories in height. A Class “B” License allows the licensed company or the company’s full-time employees to perform framing, roofing, swimming pool construction, non-structural remodeling, tenant finish, or repairs of all structures subject to the height limitation. The Class “B” license does not entitle the licensed company to perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or fire protection service or work.

Class C Residential Contractor License

The Class “C” License shall entitle the holder thereof to construct, remodel, repair, and demolish single-family or duplex residences and buildings accessory thereto. A Class “C” License allows the licensed company or the company’s full-time employees to perform framing, roofing, swimming pool construction, non-structural remodeling, or repairs when associated with single-family and two-family dwellings, or structures accessory thereto. The Class “C” license does not entitle the licensed company to perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or fire protection service or work.

Class DE Electrical Contractor License

Class “DE” License shall entitle the holder thereof to perform only electric services.

Class DF Fire Protection Contractor License

Class “DF” license entitles the holder thereof to perform only fire suppression services regardless of occupancy or height.

Class DM Mechanical Contractor License

Class "DM” License shall entitle the holder thereof to perform only HVAC, mechanical, and refrigeration services.

Class DP Plumbing Contractor License

Class “DP” License shall entitle the holder thereof to perform only plumbing services.

Class DR Roofing Contractor License

Class “DR License entitles the holder thereof to perform only roofing services for all structures regardless of occupancy or height.

Class DS Swimming Pool Contractor License

Class “DS” License shall entitle the holder thereof to perform installation, services, construction, and repairs for swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs accessory to all occupies.

Class DW Wood Framing Contractor License

Class “DW” License shall entitle the licensed company to install, maintain, repair, alter, or add to any wood framing or rough carpentry necessary to construct framed wooden structures, including but not limited to, sub-flooring, siding, exterior staircases, wood decks, associated guard rails, wood framed walls, wood framed ceilings and roof assemblies, structural wood components, engineered wood products, doors, windows, and sheathing.

Renewal, Late Fee (applied on February 1): $75.00 per license type

Application Process

Step 1

Gather the following documents prior to completing your application:

  1. Information for your Qualifying Individual (QI):
    • U.S. Government Issued Identification
    • Proof of Education (see below)

Proof of Education: A, B, C, DP, DR, DW License

  • ICC Exam Results: 75% or higher on a standard examination as approved by the Contractor License Review Board. Standard examination agencies are defined as the International Code Council (ICC) and Prometric or past subsidiaries of Educational Testing Services (ETS). We will also consider, without guarantee of approval, the ICC National exams if it can be verified to have a 75% or higher score and the exam outline content precisely mirrors the outline content of the respective ICC Exam ID OR
  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) in: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Science or Construction Management from an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) or American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accredited program; copy of transcript or diploma.  

Proof of Education: DE (Electrical) License

  • ICC Exam Results: 75% or higher on a standard examination as approved by the Contractor License Review Board. Standard examination agencies are defined as the International Code Council (ICC) and Prometric or past subsidiaries of Educational Testing Services (ETS). We will also consider, without guarantee of approval, the ICC National exams if it can be verified to have a 75% or higher score and the exam outline content precisely mirrors the outline content of the respective ICC Exam ID OR
  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) in: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Science or Construction Management from an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) or American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accredited program; copy of transcript or diploma.

Proof of Education: DF (Fire Protection) License

  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) in: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Science or Construction Management from an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) or American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accredited program; copy of transcript or diploma, OR
  • National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET) Automatic Sprinkler System Layout Level III or Level IV Certification, OR
  • NICET Water-Based Sprinkler Layout Levell III or Level IV

Proof of Education: DM (Mechanical) License

  • ICC Exam Results: 75% or higher on a standard examination as approved by the Contractor License Review Board. Proof of Education: DS (Swimming Pool) License

  • Bachelor of Science (or greater) in: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Science or Construction Management from an Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology (ABET) or American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accredited program; copy of transcript or diploma. 

 

  1. Insurance ACORD Form w/our Office Listed as the Certificate Holder
    • General Liability
    • Worker’s Compensation (only if you have employees) or Notarized Waiver

 

  1. Certificate of Good Standing – Secretary of State (if applicable)
