Coleen Good receives 2023 Leadership in Aging Award

Coleen Good holding award

The Johnson County Commission on Aging has presented The Peg Deaton Leadership in Aging Award to Coleen Good. She was also recognized by the Board of County Commissioners for being recipient of the award.

Since 1997, the COA has recognized individuals and organizations in Johnson County who have made significant contributions to enhance the quality of life for older adults and their families in our community. The award was renamed in 2016 to honor the late Peg Deaton, a longtime COA member.

Good has been a valued volunteer with the Johnson County Department of Aging and Human Services since 2012. She now volunteers in three different program areas within the department. She delivers Home-Delivered Meals, fills orders at the Southwest Multi-Service Center food pantry and helps office staff with administrative duties. In the past, Good has volunteered for the Catch-a-Ride volunteer services program by driving a participant to dialysis appointments.

She has a passion for community service and volunteered 668 hours for Johnson County Aging and Human Services last year. Since 2012, Good has contributed 3,450 hours of service to vulnerable individuals and behind-the scenes activities.
