In review of Governor Kelly’s order modifying Phase 2 the Johnson County Park & Recreation District has adjusted anticipated dates of each phase of the JCPRD Recovery Plan.
JCPRD is not making many changes to the current status due to limited resources and staff. Modifications to the guidelines will also be minimal since the primary impact is the allowable gathering limit, changing to 15. Parks and trails remain open. Tomahawk Hills and Heritage Park golf courses are open as well, and pro shops at both locations are opening this weekend.
It is anticipated the marina at Shawnee Mission Park will open June 1, with boat rentals by online reservation only. Park playgrounds are closed until no earlier than June 8.
Other facilities, including Mill Creek Activity Center, Okun Fieldhouse, New Century Fieldhouse, Roeland Park Community Center, and the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center all have anticipated openings of June 1, with some with modified hours and offerings. The Johnson County Museum is also projected to open June 1 with timed, pre-booked tours and KidScape experiences.
June events including the Shawnee Mission Triathlon and Duathlon, Great American Campout, and Day in the Park have been cancelled.
