At Johnson County Wastewater, we value the contributions of our team members, so we created multiple incentives for staff. If you join our team, you may find there are many opportunities for you to earn extra money for your contribution to the important work of water reclamation.

Sign-On Bonus
Welcome to JCW! We know you had many options when choosing the best place to build your career, and we’re thrilled you’ve chosen us. As a thank you, we have a $1,000 sign-on bonus for new employees in many frontline positions.
Details: New employees will receive $500 after completion of new employee orientation and $500 after successful completion of the introductory period. The following positions qualify for the sign-on bonus:
- Line Cleaning/Inspection Crew Member
- Line Cleaning/Inspection Crew Leader
- Line Repair Crew Leader
- Line Repair Crew Member
- Treatment crew member I, II & III
- Treatment Industrial Electrician
- HVAC Specialist
- Truck Driver
- O&M Director
- Maintenance Specialist
Quarterly Retention Bonus
Your continued commitment to our customers benefits our community and environment. As a thank you, we created a $500 quarterly retention bonus for many frontline positions whose work is crucial to the health and safety of our customers and infrastructure.
Details: Employees in good standing in the positions listed below may receive a $500 bonus per quarter:
- Line Cleaning/Inspection Crew Member
- Line Cleaning/Inspection Crew Leader
- Line Repair Crew Leader
- Line Repair Crew Member
- Treatment Crew Member I, II & III
- Treatment Industrial Electrician
- HVAC Specialist
- Truck Driver
- Maintenance Specialist
New employees are not eligible for quarterly retention bonuses until the quarter following their second sign-on bonus payment.
Annual Retention Bonus
There is a lot of competition for top talent out there, and we recognize that. Since some units can be harder to fill than others, we have created an annual retention bonus of up to $3,000 for staff working in units with a more than 20% vacancy rate. Staff in qualifying positions can receive this incentive in addition to the quarterly retention bonuses.
Details: Employees in good standing working in units with more than a 20% vacancy rate can earn up to $3,000 ($1,000 per qualifying period) annually. Exceptions apply.
Referral Bonus
Our staff are our best recruiters because they know firsthand the fantastic benefits of working for JCW. Once employed with JCW, you can earn a $500 referral bonus if a person you refer joins our team. If you’re applying for a position thanks to an employee referral, don’t forget to put their name on your application!
Details: Referring employees will receive $250 after the person they referred completes new employee orientation and then the referring employee will receive $250 after the person they referred has been employed at JCW for six months.
To receive the incentive, candidates must list the name of the referring employee on the initial application.
