Psychiatric Medication Services

The mission of the Johnson County Mental Health Center (JCMHC) medical staff (psychiatrist, ARNP, and RN/LPN) is to provide quality psychiatric services to our clients.  Our aim is to improve mental/ emotional functioning through the prescription and administration of psychotropic medication.  We also provide supervision of, and consultation in, the non-medication treatment services delivered by other JCMHC programs.

All JCMHC clients receive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations as a part of the intake procedure.  Psychiatric evaluation is performed upon referral by clinicians / therapists / case managers or qualified mental health professionals.

JCMHC offers specialized psychiatric medication services in two of our three locations.  We offer tele psychiatry appointments as well. We treat nearly all ages of clients from pediatric to geriatric, and serve approximately 4000 clients.

We are staffed by a Chief Medical Officer,   a child psychiatrist, and four APRNs, Nursing supervisor, four full time RNs, two LPNs, and two CNA/CMAs.

Our medical/nursing team interface with all other departments of the MHC.  Clients are seen for scheduled appointments utilizing the Just In Time scheduling model. This system has greatly reduced our no show rate allowing for efficient utilization of our providers’ time.

Our medical/nursing staff work closely with the Genoa pharmacy; contracted with the MHC to fill for clients/staff.

Nursing Clinic

Our Nursing Clinic operates at the Olathe and Shawnee locations for JCMHC clients from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch). The Nursing Clinic has available appointments for injections, Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS), missed appointments and individual appointment blocks. Please call the main line at 913-826-4200 to schedule an appointment or leave a message for a nurse regarding questions or concerns between provider appointments.
