Top tips on how to avoid bites of ticks
Summer weather means more opportunities to get outdoors for a walk or hike and get bit by a tick or mosquito. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment says tick activity and tick density is high resulting in more than 200 laboratory reports of tickborne diseases as of May 29.
What’s the deal with ozone?
Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas, and Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties in Missouri, collectively make up the Kansas City “airshed” and work together to decrease air pollution. Kansas City, including Johnson County, has historically had problems with ozone — a common air pollutant identified by the Environmental Protection Agency.
