Johnson County Square
The Johnson County Square is a green space at the southeast corner of Santa Fe Street and Kansas Avenue in Olathe. It’s in between the Johnson County Administration Building and the new Johnson County Courthouse, in the spot where the previous county courthouse once stood.
Construction of the Johnson County Square is being done in phases:
- Phase one is complete and includes a community green, a curved walkway and a tree grove.
- Phase two includes upgrading the public square with a multipurpose platform, a Memorial Plaza, an art garden play area and tree grove seating.
The space can be programmed for outdoor venues small and large and used for a variety of outdoor activities. The walkway links the Administration Building, new Courthouse and all of the park elements.
Phase Two Under Construction
Construction on phase two of the Johnson County Square project is ongoing. Access to the square is limited while construction continues.
The multi-purpose platform and an art garden play area will be located at the northern end. The historical plaza will be near the Children of the Trails Fountain at the southern end. The new tree grove with seating will be in the square's southeast corner.
Under an agreement, the City of Olathe will oversee programming for activities in the square, such as public events and concerts. Johnson County will be responsible for the maintenance of the property.

Phase two of the Johnson County Square will include construction of a multi-use stage.
