Tony Barron hired to lead the Department of Facilities

Johnson County Government is pleased to announce Tony Barron will join the county on March 20 as the director of facilities. More than twenty years of Tony’s career has been spent working in facilities management and maintenance.

Tony comes to Johnson County from the Blue Valley School District, where he has worked as the project and grounds coordinator for the last two years. In that role, he led a crew of 22 in maintaining and improving some of the best athletic facilities and school grounds in the Midwest region.

Prior to that, Tony worked for Lawrence Public Schools. He began there in 2013 as the director of facilities and operations and was promoted to executive director of facilities and operations four years later. Over the course of eight years at LPS, Tony executed owner operations for 27 bond construction projects.

Tony possesses strong leadership skills which he credits to training with the Kansas Leadership Center which embraces multiple and diverse perspectives to bridge the gap from where an organization is and where they want to be.

Tony has also attended the Latinx Summit, Tomorrow’s Leaders – Kansas Park and Recreation Professional Development Institute and Occupational Health and Safety training.

Tony received a bachelor’s degree, in park resource management from Kansas State University in Manhattan.

Tony is a native of Winfield in south central Kansas. He and his wife currently reside in Eudora.
