The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment is pleased to announce that the Medical Examiner’s Office has been granted full accreditation status through the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME), effective May 2023 through May 2027.

The accreditation process consists of a rigorous inspection of the facility and review of the office practices, including the implementation of policies and procedures. NAME accreditation signifies that the highest quality death investigation system has been attained.

“The MEO staff have worked hard since the facility opened in 2020 to achieve NAME accreditation,” says Dr. Diane Peterson, Chief Medical Examiner. “We are happy our efforts have been recognized.”

The MEO’s mission is to provide exemplary, timely service in a compassionate way to the families of our community and operate at the highest level of professional standards.
