Board of County Commissioners Monthly Recap: Nov. 2023

Suspension of three transit routes

Approved suspension of the 482 Overland Park Flex, 519 Olathe-Express and the 595 Gardner-OP Express routes. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Additional positions for WIC program

Approved the addition of 1.55 FTE grant funded dietitian positions and 1.0 FTE grant funded customer service specialist position to be federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Site services for new air traffic control tower

Authorized No. 1a. for Site Selection Services for a new air traffic control tower at New Century AirCenter, per the term-and-supply contract with Burns and McDonnell for the siting, design, bidding and construction services for a new control tower at the New Century AirCenter, in an amount not to exceed $218,178.70. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Setting BOCC’s official 2024 meeting calendar

Set an official meeting calendar for the Board of County Commissioners for 2024. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Funding for 2024 Human Service Fund

Allocated $162,500 for the 2024 Human Service Fund as outlined by United Community Services of Johnson County in its 2024 Human Service Fund Recommendations Report. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Allocation of Alcohol Tax & Opioid Settlement Funds

Allocated $221,318 of 2024 Johnson County Alcohol Tax Funds and $100,000 of the Opioid Settlement Funds in the recommended amounts from the Drug and Alcoholism Council of Johnson County as presented in United Community Services of Johnson County’s 2024 Substance Use Continuum of Care Recommendations Report. Vote: Passed 7-0.
