Board’s Priorities for 2023-2024

The Board of County Commissioners approved its priorities for 2023-2024. Vote: Passed 5-2.

Definition of antisemitism

Adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s Working Definition of Antisemitism as a crucial first step in addressing the rise in antisemitism, especially in Europe and the United States. Adoption of the definition sends a message that governments understand the threat, which is the first step in addressing it. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Amending regulations on accessory buildings

Amended the Johnson County Zoning and Subdivision Regulations for the purpose of regulating accessory buildings within unincorporated Johnson County. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Pay adjustments for select targeted positions

Approved and authorized pay adjustments to address market equity and alignment for select targeted positions, specifically correctional officers, correctional supervisors, case management supervisors and support providers; approved and authorized the reclassification and use of General Fund reserves in an amount not to exceed $540,000 for Corrections and District Attorney’s Office; and the reclassification and use of Developmental Supports Fund reserves in an amount not to exceed $945,000; and the reclassification and use of Mental Health Fund reserves in an amount not to exceed $191,250, effective April 30, 2023. Vote: Passed 7-0.

(Sitting as the Public Building Commission) Med-Act facility in Olathe

Approved the acquisition, design, construction, reconstruction, equipping and furnishing improvements to a Med-Act facility to be located in Olathe; authorized the issuance of revenue bonds in an amount not to exceed $9,892,008 plus the cost of issuance for the purpose of paying all or a portion of the costs thereof and related financing costs. Vote: Passed 7-0.

Pre-design contract for a new Health Services Building

Authorized a contract with Finkle + Williams Architecture, for Phase One Pre-Design Services for a new Health Services Building, in an amount not to exceed $340,000. Vote: Passed 5-2.

Received the final Housing Sub Committee report

The final Housing Subcommittee Report, including next steps, was presented by Commissioner Hanzlick, a member of the subcommittee. The subcommittee also included Commissioners Allenbrand and Fast.
