Ready for crisp fall air and new adventures? Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s 50 Plus Travel is offering day trips, social outings and nature walks in September and October, including:

Day Trips:

All-inclusive day

  • Step Back in Time - Jamesport, MO. 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, $119 Enjoy a step-on bus tour through an Amish community. Shop a bakery, grocery and more in downtown Jamesport.
  • Rolling Hills Zoo and Museum 7 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27 $124 Trip to Salina, KS. to walk on the wild side at the Rolling Hills Zoo. Your ticket will gain you access to the elaborate onsite Wildlife Museum. Registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 18.
  • OZtoberfest in Wamego 8 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, $114 Enjoy activities at the Columbian Theatre, tour the Oz Museum, see the Toto look-alike contest, shop Auntie Em’s Boutique and other activities.

Social Outings:

Lunch cost on your own unless otherwise specified

  • Powered Up! - Bowersock Hydroelectric Plant tour and shopping in Lawrence 9 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12, $32/$35 nonresident
  • New Theatre & Restaurant - Always a Bridesmaid 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, $53/$55 nonresidents

Nature Outing/Walks:

Lunch cost on your own unless otherwise specified

  • Nature Outing: Farm to Table at Colonial Gardens - Farm tour and Lunch (boxed lunch with farm-fresh ingredients included.) 8:15 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15, $45/$48 nonresidents
  • Adventure Walk: Baker Wetlands - Walk, lunch and shopping in Baldwin City 9 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, $25/ $27 nonresidents.
  • Adventure Walk: Konza Prairie - Located in the Flint Hills featuring native tallgrass prairie. 7:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10, $35/ $37 nonresidents.
