Located within the southwest quadrant of the Kansas City metropolitan area, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Criminalistics Laboratory (JCSOCL) provides forensic services to all law enforcement and fire agencies within Kansas’ most populous county as well as federal and other local agencies in the region.

Our 62,500 square foot, state-of-the-art laboratory houses a staff of over fifty highly trained scientists and forensic professionals that utilize cutting-edge instrumentation and technologies to produce valid, reliable, and reproducible forensic results.

We strive to be leader in the forensic community through promotion of a culture of quality and continuous improvement. The laboratory has been continuously accredited since 1999 and is proud to be an Organization of Scientific Area Committees for Forensic Science (OSAC) Registry Implementer.

At the JCSOCL, serving others is in our DNA. A robust outreach program allows our staff to give back to the community in which we work and live by sharing our knowledge and talents with county/city government and police department citizen academies, community organizations, as well high school and college public safety, forensic, legal, and STEM/STEAM academies and programs.

Our Mission

The mission of the JCSOCL is to aid in criminal investigations through timely, unbiased, high quality forensic services performed by highly trained experts using state-of the art instrumentation and scientific techniques.

Our Vision
