Winter is nearly behind us and Johnson County Park and Recreation 50 Plus Travel has some exciting trips and programs planned this March and April, with the arrival of spring.

Travel-themed virtual programs are a great way to be social, visit local and far-away places and learn about a variety of cultures without leaving the comfort of your home. Join us for our upcoming virtual program, “UFO Museum,” on Tuesday, March 14, by the staff at the UFO Museum in Roswell, New Mexico. This program is free; registration is required.

Looking for some fresh air? 50 Plus will host four Adventure Walks to invigorate your spirit.

  • Missouri Riverfront Heritage Trail & Kaw. Thursday, March 16. $25/$27 nonresidents.
  • Ironwoods Park. Tuesday, March 28. $25/$27 nonresidents.
  • Parkville Nature Sanctuary. Friday, April 7. $25/$27 nonresidents.
  • Clinton Lake-George Latham Hiking Trail. Tuesday, April 25. $30/$32 nonresidents.

50 Plus is bringing the experience of the Orphan Train Complex Museum in Concordia, Kansas to you! Join us for a “Brainy Breakfast” at Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Ave, Prairie Village, at 9 a.m. Friday, April 14, for a catered breakfast as participants engage live on Zoom with museum staff.

  • “Locked Up”- Missouri State Penitentiary and Missouri State Highway Patrol Museum. Thursday, April 27. $145.
