The Community Development Block Grant program provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities and counties to develop viable urban communities. Johnson County obligates the maximum amount of funds allowed by HUD to directly assisting the most vulnerable populations.

Whether the project is a public service directly assisting homeless individuals, housing projects removing architectural barriers or public facilities projects improving infrastructure in low to moderate income areas, 100% of the Community Development Block Grant funds Johnson County receives meets one of the three required national objectives by benefitting low to moderate income persons.
