Johnson County ranked on Forbes Magazine list of Best Midsize Employers in America

Johnson County Government ranks No. 106 on a national list of the Best Midsize Employers in America compiled by Forbes magazine.

According to the magazine, the annual ranking is based on a survey of more than 170,000 U.S.-based workers across all employment sectors in America. Organizations with 1,000 to 5,000 employees are deemed midsize employers.

“We are honored to be listed as one of the best midsize employers in the country,” said Penny Postoak Ferguson, county manager. “This recognition is a testament to our many talented employees who make Johnson County a great place to work by sharing a commitment to creating an environment that encourages innovation and growth among our staff and empowers employees at all levels to exercise leadership.”

The list includes the top 400 private and public employers from a variety of different sectors drawn from all the similarly sized employers in the United States. Last year, when the list recognized 500 different employers, Johnson County ranked No. 408.

Responses to the survey came from current employees, employees who had worked for the company or organization within the past two years and individuals familiar with the company through friends, family or peers in their industry, the magazine said.
