Johnson County Election Office releases unofficial 2023 Primary Election results

The Johnson County Election Office has released unofficial election results from the August 1, 2023, Primary Election.

A total of 16,815 ballots were processed and counted, with 10.46% of registered voters casting ballots. Approximately 160,500 registered voters were eligible to vote in this primary election.

This election featured 23 candidates across seven contests. The two candidates who received the most votes in each contest will be listed on the November 7, 2023, general election ballot.

“This primary election is an important milestone for the 14 candidates that will be moving on to the November general election contest," Election Commissioner Fred Sherman said. To view the unofficial final election results, visit jocoelection.org.

It is important to note that election results will be finalized during the canvass on August 9, 2023. Before the canvass, the Johnson County Election Office will be meticulously reviewing and verifying challenged and provisional ballots to attest the integrity of the electoral system and guarantee that every valid vote is counted.

The Board of County Canvassers, made up of County Commissioners, will certify the results of the 2023 Primary Election at 9 a.m. on August 9, 2023. The canvass will take place at the Johnson County Election Office, 2101 East Kansas City Road, Olathe, KS 66061.
