The Best Times is a bimonthly 8.5 x 10 glossy magazine provided for all Johnson County residents aged 60 plus, publishing articles that inform, challenge, support, entertain and persuade.
In September 1982, Best Times was an 11 x 17 newspaper that began as a pilot program funded through a grant from the Older Americans Act and the state of Kansas. Later the paper became a regular publication of Johnson County Human Services. It is currently published as a magazine every other month by the County Manager's Office.

The mailing list is updated every other month from the Johnson County voter registration rolls, or residents may request that their names be added. For families outside of Johnson County and others, there is a $25 annual subscription fee.
The Best Times is also available for pickup from libraries, senior centers and multi-service centers. Overall readership is estimated at 90,000.
