Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) has exciting news about partnerships that will help get vaccinations to people in independent living facilities, as well as create an improved process to screen and deploy volunteers in its clinics.
JCHDE recently signed an agreement with the Heart to Heart International to serve as the portal for individuals who wish to volunteer during the vaccination effort. JCDHE forwarded a compiled list of contact information of close to 300 community members who have inquired about volunteering. Heart to Heart will send out communication to those individuals to initiate the vetting process.
Interested volunteers should go to https://www.hearttoheart.org/vaccination-effort/. This link will also appear on a Volunteer page on the county’s website. Johnson County DHE is listed in a dropdown list for “Where did you hear about us?” The county will be able to pull more vaccinators from this group to assist in vaccine clinics as well as other roles.
JCDHE, Hy-Vee, Inc. and Auburn Pharmacy are partnering to offer COVID-19 vaccinations to several independent living centers in Johnson County. Hy-Vee and Auburn Pharmacy will start contacting those facilities to schedule dates and times within the next two weeks. Approximately 1,900 doses will be administered via mobile clinics and on-site vaccinators at 27 facilities.
