Johnson County Government exceeds United Way campaign goals

Johnson County Government’s annual campaign for United Way raised more than $120,000 and had 378 donors — exceeding both goals set at the campaign's start.

The Johnson County Commission recognized the county’s United Way campaign's co-chairs at a recent board meeting for the success of the 2017 fundraiser.

"We appreciate the support of the employees to help make meaningful changes to our community," said campaign co-chair Tiffany Hentschel. “Together, we are working to make a difference in greater Kansas City through this annual United Way effort.”

The campaign's jeans drive collected 251 pairs of jeans as a joint-effort with the city of Olathe. Johnson County Library more than doubled individual contribution numbers from last year, with $6,600 raised in 2016; $15,000 this year.

The Central Services team, led by Joe Waters, assistant county manager, increased its donations by 7 percent this year. That's the biggest increase in participation among the four county manager teams.
