The Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office received special recognition on Nov. 20 when Saving Sight presented the department with its Champion of Sight Award. Megan Euler, Partnership Support Manager for Saving Sight, delivered the award during a visit to the office, praising staff for their commitment to supporting families and facilitating tissue donation.

Euler said the award honors partners who show exceptional dedication to making eye donation possible. "Champions of Sight partners show compassion, resilience and a love for what they do each day," she said. "They demonstrate an outstanding passion for supporting the eye donation process."

She highlighted the MEO team for consistently honoring donors and upholding families’ wishes to give the gift of sight. Euler acknowledged the challenges that can arise in the donation process and thanked the team for their continued support even in difficult circumstances.

Between January and September 2025, the MEO helped make a significant impact:

  • 84 tissues were placed for transplant.
  • 15 tissues were used for research and training.
  • 62 families received support throughout the donation process.

"These numbers represent lives changed and hope restored," Euler said. "Thank you for being our Champion of Sight."
