Johnson County K-State Research and Extension Office will again partner with El Centro to host a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site in the county’s Sunset Drive Office Building, 11811 S. Sunset Drive, Olathe.

Volunteers, who like working with people, enjoy numbers and want to give back to their community, are needed for the program.

All VITA site staff are trained. Tax preparers are certified by the IRS to complete federal income tax returns as well as returns from any state. Besides tax preparers, volunteers are needed as greeters, document reviewers and site helpers.

Training for volunteers will start in late December through January. Training must be completed by Jan. 31. To volunteer, register at kctaxvolunteer.org and select the K-State location.

Free tax assistance for Johnson County residents will begin on Feb. 5 and end April 15, 2022.
