The Best Times Digital Edition

April 27, 2021

Four spring and early summer outdoor chamber music concerts performed by various ensembles of Kansas City Symphony musicians.

Concerts are planned:

  • May 6 in the wooded area next to the Inclusive Playground at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee and Lenexa.
  • May 9 and June 10, both at Meadowbrook Park, 9101 Nall Ave., Prairie Village.
  • May 19, near Shelter No. 2 at Kill Creek Park, 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe.

All concerts are free. No registration is required. With the exception of the May 9 event, which begins at 2 p.m., all symphony concerts start at 5:30 p.m. The performances, lasting 30 to 40 minutes each, will feature quartets and quintets of musicians from the symphony.

Social distancing and the wearing of face masks will be encouraged at the concerts. Patrons are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The spring concerts represent a follow-up to symphony concerts conducted in 2020, featuring 14 performances in seven Johnson County Park and Recreation parks.
