Johnson County United Airport Drop and Ride service begins today Johnson County Link service begins June 9, passes already available

The Johnson County United Airport Drop and Ride free airport shuttle service for FIFA World Cup 2026™ Kansas City began service this morning.

This new public transit pilot provides direct service from Kansas City International Airport to Lenexa City Center and the Overland Park Convention Center. It will run during FIFA World Cup 2026™ Kansas City and throughout 2026 while funding is available.

Buses will run in 30-minute intervals starting today and continuing through July 17. After July 17, buses will run on a 60-minute schedule. Complete schedules and maps for the routes are available on the Johnson County Transit website and at JohnsonCountyUnited.com.

The service is a drop-and-ride service only. No designated parking onsite is available for this airport service. Riders should not leave personal vehicles at the Overland Park Convention Center or Lenexa City Center for extended periods of time. Passengers should plan to be dropped off or picked up by another driver, rideshare service, taxi or connecting transit service.

Airport service pick-up and drop-off will occur at:

  • Kansas City International Airport: public transit pickup area near signpost 3A
  • Overland Park Convention Center: along the I-435 (north) side of the building
  • Lenexa City Center: on Scarborough St. at 87th St.

Johnson County United Link bus passes available for purchase

Riders can also take advantage of a new Johnson County United Link connector service during FIFA World Cup 2026TM Kansas City, from June 9 to July 13.

The service will connect riders to key Johnson County destinations, other Link routes, Johnson County Transit services and ConnectKC26 routes serving Kansas City Stadium and FIFA Fan Festival™.

Passes for the service are available for purchase now. Rates will include $5 for a day pass, $25 for a seven-day pass and $50 for a tournament pass. Instructions on how to buy a pass are available on the Johnson County Transit website, along with other information about the service, including maps, routes and schedules.
