Johnson County residents have two options for getting rid of paint and household chemicals

Spring and summer are a popular time for cleaning out garages and sheds and moving. All of these activities lead to Johnson County residents needing to safely dispose of more paint and household chemicals.
If you have paint, stain, household chemicals, yard chemicals or any of the other items considered "household hazardous waste," there are two options for you to get rid of these materials.
Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste Facility
The Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste facility is located in Overland Park off College and Mastin.
This facility is by appointment only and can be very popular this time of year leading to longer wait times. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and the second Saturday of the month through October.
You can schedule a drop-off online or call 913-715-6907.
Olathe Household Hazardous Waste Facility
Any Johnson County resident can use the Olathe Household Hazardous Waste facility.
Olathe has a mix of appointment and non-appointment days and will also accept electronics (from Olathe residents only).
If you live outside of Johnson County, you can find recycling options closest to you at RecycleSpot.org.
