Johnson County receives assurances from election worker management system

Johnson County is providing the following statement regarding the PollChief election worker management system incident:

Johnson County is working with law enforcement and others to determine if Johnson County election worker data was improperly stored in a manner that violated its contract with Konnech, the company that owns PollChief. PollChief is an election worker management system the county uses to communicate with and assign poll workers for Johnson County elections.

Today, Konnech officials offered Election Commissioner Fred Sherman assurances regarding the security of Johnson County data. Although the county appreciates this information, it will continue to promote the safety of poll worker data. To our knowledge, the company has not been ordered to cease operations.

The Johnson County contract does not use the full functionality of the software and does not include payroll. We encourage anyone who suspects they’ve been the victim of identity theft to contact law enforcement. We will act immediately if we learn Johnson County poll worker information has been compromised.

It’s important to know this: the PollChief system used to communicate with and assign poll workers, as stated in the county’s contract, is in no way connected to the county’s voter tabulation systems. We continue to stand by the integrity of Johnson County elections.
