Johnson County hosting electronic recycling and paper shredding event on April 21

electronic recycling event

Celebrate Earth Day by recycling your old or unwanted electronics, including TVs, computers or anything with a cord or that runs on batteries, as well as paper that will be securely shredded.

This electronic recycling and paper shredding event will take place Friday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at Kiewit headquarters, 8900 Renner Blvd. Lenexa, KS. Collection will occur in the North parking lot off 89th Street.

As a courtesy, Johnson County staff and volunteers will be there to unload your vehicle.

All electronic items are free except TVs ($40 each) and CRT monitors ($25 each), cash and check only. Additional electronic recycling options can be found on our electronics recycling page.

There is no charge for paper shredding, donations are accepted. Electronic recycling is provided by Secure E-Cycle and paper shredding by ProShred.

ScrapsKC will also be on-site accepting usable school and office supplies, which will then be available at their Kansas City location.

“Johnson County is pleased to partner with so many great companies to provide electronics and paper recycling options, keeping them out of the landfill,” said Brandon Hearn, education and outreach coordinator for JCDHE. “One of the world’s fastest growing trash problems is electronic waste. It’s important to recycle it responsibly because so much of it contains hazardous materials. We are also excited to include our partner, ScrapsKC, to collect usable school and office supplies for reuse.”
