County Auditor’s Office releases annual report for 2025
Johnson County's County Auditor’s Office, which reports on the performance of county departments, programs, and activities, has released its annual report on activities and performance in 2025.
The office met its goal of issuing seven performance audits in 2025. The potential indirect financial impact of recommendations and information in these audits is about $118.8 million.
“For $1 we spent last year, our work identified about $111 in indirect financial impacts,” said Douglas Jones, County Auditor.
The County Auditor's Office itself gets audited every three years, called a "peer review." The office passed its required peer review in 2025, receiving the highest rating and an opinion of ‘Compliance’ with the Government Auditing Standards.
The County Auditor’s Office promotes government accountability, transparency, and improved county operations through independent assessments of departments and programs. The county auditor is appointed by and reports to the Board of County Commissioners and is independent of the county manager.
