Johnson County Wastewaters State Line Pump Stations and Forcemain project is moving from the design stage into the construction phase.

Construction will begin on the State Line pump stations at the end of February, and construction on the forcemain project will begin in March. All schedules are weather permitting.

This project will add two new pump stations in Leawood, Kansas at 8950 State Line Road and 10346 State Line Road, and a new forcemain under State Line Road from Leawood Park to 89th Street.

Using rolling segmented lane closures of the two south bound lanes, at least one lane on State Line Road will remain open for each direction of traffic during the construction phase. We appreciate your patience while construction is completed.

Johnson County Wastewater will be building two new pump stations and one common forcemain in the City of Leawood to convey flow generated in the Leawood service area to the Tomahawk Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility.

The State Line Road Pump Stations and Forcemain Project is a critical component of Johnson County Wastewater's 25-year Integrated Plan. Once completed, this project will significantly reduce the flow currently conveyed to Kansas City, Missouri for treatment, saving ratepayers an estimated $100 million over a 20-year period. This project is anticipated to pay for itself within seven years.

Through a partnership with the City of Leawood, the forcemain construction along State Line will also include significant roadway improvements to the southbound lanes. Learn more about the financing of this project.
