Blue Valley School District General Fund property tax letter
We made important updates to this information on May 16, 2025. Please view this article for the latest information.
See below for a statement on a letter sent to 254 property owners in the Blue Valley School District.
On April 18, the Office of Treasury, Taxation and Vehicles distributed a letter to 254 property owners in the Blue Valley School District. The letter informed them that, for those 254 properties, the School General Fund levy was not included in their 2023 or 2024 original tax statements.
This was omitted in error, and we apologize for the issue. We have completed a thorough review of the process and identified additional opportunities to review and verify the data moving forward.
The letter contains additional information, and we encourage property owners who were affected by this issue to call the County Clerk’s Office at 913-715-2301 with questions or to discuss payment options, including the ability to make monthly payments until paid in full.
Property tax owners can also visit taxbill.jocogov.org to review and verify current and prior year tax statements.
The total affected amount of property tax is approximately $350,000 for each of the two years. This represents about 0.02% of the approximately $1.7 billion collected in real estate and personal property taxes countywide. The issue was discovered during the tax roll certification process, when it was determined that the USD 229 School General Fund for Blue Valley School District was not included in the original tax statements. The affected 254 properties should have had all four school district funds (School General, Unified, Bond and Capital Outlay) listed on their 2023 and 2024 statements.
Again, we encourage those property owners who were affected to reach out to the County Clerk’s Office at 913-715-2301 with questions or to discuss payment options.
