Johnson County’s Audit Services has conducted a performance audit of procurement under exceptions to competition.

County policy calls for competition when purchasing goods and services, but exceptions are allowed in some circumstances. This audit evaluates the county’s extent, documentation and approval of exceptions to competition under county policy. It also includes recommendations to strengthen the process.

Audit Services conducts performance audits on a regular basis. Audits provide an independent, objective assessment of the stewardship, performance or cost of policies, programs or operations, and are essential to government accountability to the public.

The purpose of audits can vary, depending on the scope of the audit and the audit objectives. You can view previous year’s reports on the Audit Reports webpage.
