Art by local artists on display at Johnson County Administration Building

A new collection of art is now on display in the Johnson County Administration Building, through the county’s partnership with InterUrban ArtHouse on a rotating art exhibition.

This is the Administration Building’s sixth collection of art since the rotating exhibition began in Sept. 2024. The exhibition features artwork by local artists Lorrie Eigles and Chico Sierra.

Eigles’ artwork, a collection called “Many Points of Light,” features color pencil and ink on white paper, acrylic paint markers on dark black paper and mixed media on boards. She works with line and shape reminiscent of artists like Joan Miró and Wassily Kandinsky.

Now retired, Eigles was a life, career and retirement coach during her career. Her art reveals “paths to discovery and our deep desire for creativity.”

Sierra’s artwork in this exhibition includes brightly colored acrylic paintings on canvas. Originally from El Paso, Texas, the now-Midwestern artist attempts to connect the dots of his cultural history, influenced by his interests in social science and spiritual iconography.

Sierra’s work has been shown in galleries across Kansas City, including the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.

If you’d like to come view the art by these artists, the Administration Building is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can also view public art at several Library branches, also through a partnership with InterUrban ArtHouse.
