Call for Abstracts
The Kansas Infectious Disease Symposium invites you to submit abstracts that explore innovative approaches, cutting-edge research and impactful strategies to prevent, detect and respond to infectious disease threats. We welcome abstracts from undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, practitioners and professionals that showcase original research, case studies or best practices.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
Abstracts are limited to 400 words, not including title, authors, and headers. Abstracts should contain the presenting author's name and affiliation and the following headers:
- Title
- Background
- Method/Intervention
- Results
- Conclusion/Discussion
Poster Presentation
A visual illustration on a poster board summarizing findings using graphics, diagrams, photographs and limited text. Presentations are limited to only one (1) presenting author. Presenters are responsible for transporting the poster to the Symposium.
Presenters will provide an informal presentation (information sharing and discussion) of 30 minutes (15 minutes before the Symposium starts and 15 minutes during the afternoon break) on both days of the Symposium.
Poster Size and Material
- No larger than 42 in. (length) x 30 in. (height)
- The preferred material for the poster is foam board
- If you bring a traditional poster, a foam board will be provided to clip the poster onto
- An easel will be provided
Presenter Disclosure
Presenting authors must disclose to participants prior to speaking any significant financial interest or other relationships with the manufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) or provider(s) of any commercial services discussed in a session presentation and with any commercial supports of the activity. This pertains to relationships with pharmaceutical companies, biomedical device manufacturers or other corporations whose products or services are related to the subject matter of the presentation topic. Having an interest or affiliation with a corporate organization does not prevent a speaker from making a presentation, but the relationship must be made known in advance to the audience.
Important Dates
- March 7, 2025: Abstract submission closes
- March 21, 2025: Submitters are notified of their selection for poster presentation. Selected poster presenters will receive a 50% discount on the Symposium registration fee.

Submit your abstract through our online portal by 5 p.m. Central Standard Time on Friday, March 7, 2025.
