The county and Kansas City metro area are experiencing exponential growth in positive COVID-19 cases. As we enter the holiday season, this matter is only expected to get worse. The health care system in now strained – due to increased COVID-19 and other admissions and limited staffing. This is expected to get worse unless actions are taken to curb the spread of the virus in the community. Schools are also experiencing the pressure of staffing issues due to the current surge of COVID-19 cases. Johnson County is taking this action to limit community spread to a level that will allow hospitals to adequately address emergent health care needs.
