Elijah Buchholz – Team Leader/Clinician
Elijah is Hard of Hearing and was raised in a strong Deaf family. Elijah received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and his M.A. in Professional Counseling/Marriage and Family Counseling from Mid-America Nazarene University. Elijah worked as a Team Leader and Therapist at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, MO for 6 years before taking the role of Director of Deaf Services for the Missouri Department of Mental Health in 2012. Elijah came to Johnson County Mental Health in 2015 to serve as both the Team Leader as well as the Therapist for the Deaf Services Team and keeps hoping for a Chiefs Super Bowl ring in the near future!
Mary Van Bavel – Case Manager Assistant
Mary Van Bavel is originally from Bogota, Colombia. She moved to Florida when she was 4 and graduated from the Florida School for the Deaf. She moved to Kansas in 1997 to start a family and have 3 beautiful children. She has worked at JCMHC for the past 10 years. She loves her job and enjoys working with a diversity of people. She also loves to travel around the US and would like to visit more places on the west side of the US in future.
