This introductory workshop will assist those in the community, who have or know children with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), to accurately understand this frequently misunderstood psychiatric condition. Dr. Curiel will provide a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy conceptualization of OCD, an overview of the maintenance factors, and evidence-based treatments. Response prevention and other effective skills will be reviewed.

OBJECTIVES

After attending this workshop, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand OCD (differentiating obsessions from compulsions, the most misunderstood themes)
  • Differentiate between the neurological and behavioral components of this condition
  • Identify evidence-based treatments for OCD
