Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) is asking Johnson County residents to complete a short survey in order to understand how many people in Johnson County have or do not have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19). The survey will close at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 10.

Undergraduates

In order to practice extreme caution during this time, JCDHE will not be accepting any new requests for internships, shadowships, or interviews (in-person and phone). All community presentations will be cancelled or postponed until further notice. We encourage you to check this page often, as the information may change as needed.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is required for placement within our department. Space is limited. If we do not have a MOU with your school, please complete the Instructor Request Form to get started.

Strategic Planning, Workforce Development

Learn and apply Adult Learning principles to design training, manage internal learning management systems, provide support and troubleshooting for training and presentations, contribute ideas to the department’s Quality Improvement Plan, assist the Workforce Development Coordinator in conducting orientations to the department, attend internal and external meetings and conferences applicable to the development of the public health workforce.   >> Apply Here!

Dietetics (WIC)

Interns are given the opportunity to become familiar with the WIC organization and learn the eligibility requirements and referral procedures for WIC clients. The intern will observe the Registered Dietician (RD) and participate in direct client contact counseling clients in topics including: prenatal, postpartum, breastfeeding and pediatric education.   >> Apply Here!

Social Work Intern

The student completes psychosocial interviews with clients beginning our prenatal program and then provides case management for those women throughout their pregnancy and for up to a year postpartum. The student would be placed in the clinic and must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 0800 to 1700. In addition to providing services and support to the prenatal population, we provide support to our family planning and STI patients as needed. The student will learn our EMR and provide necessary documentation in that system.   >> Apply Here!
