In an effort to develop Chief Health Strategists within the field of Public Health, the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment (JCDHE) offers unpaid internships and free presentations to the community for the variety of disciplines that contribute to this work. The developing Chief Health Strategist intern and corresponding presentations by JCDHE staff will, “lead their community’s health promotion efforts in partnership with health care clinicians and leaders in widely diverse sectors, and be deeply engaged in addressing the causes underlying tomorrow’s health imperatives… (and will) participate in and support community-based coalitions that examine health data, set goals, and develop plans to improve health.” In addition, interns will uphold the Core Competencies essential to Johnson County employees as well as those of the Public Health Foundation’s Public Health Professionals. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is required for placement within our department. Space is limited.
