Purpose: JoCo Academy seeks to: (1) enhance citizen knowledge of county operations and services (2) encourage a unified community identity and, (3) increase participation in Johnson County boards, advisory councils, and commissions.
Description: Johnson County residents recognize it is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. JoCo Academy allows community-minded individuals to discover what makes our high quality of life possible through behind the scene tours, hands-on activities, and conversations with county elected officials and staff. Come visit with commissioners, explore the county budget, learn about civic engagement/volunteer opportunities, and tour various county facilities! Upon completion of at least 8 of the 10 sessions, participants will receive a certificate.

Who May Apply: Open to all Johnson County residents and employees.
How to Apply: The JoCo Academy online application remains available for completion on an on-going basis. Please click the APPLY for JoCo Academy link to complete the online application.
Selection: All applications submitted before the deadline will be considered during the selection process.
Application Status: Applicants will be notified only if they have been selected for the spring academy on January 22, 2020. Please feel free to contact the County Manager's Office at (913) 715-0729 to inquire about your application status and submit multiple applications if any information has changed.
Program Growth: At this time, the academy supports 40 participants in each class. We endeavor to serve each citizen who is interested in participating. We appreciate your patience as the program develops.
