County Projects
Johnson County is moving forward with a number of major county projects. These projects are funded by the public and – once construction is completed – will provide valuable services and amenities to the community.
The projects listed are under construction now and will soon become a reality. They consist of updates to existing infrastructure, new construction on parks and libraries, and the development of capital projects that will guide our county and region well into the future.

Facility Projects
Facilities Management oversees efforts to construct new county facilities, from brand-new buildings to renovations of existing buildings to equipment upgrades. These projects will provide county staff and the public with new and improved facilities: courthouses, libraries and more.
Park and Recreation Projects
Johnson County Park and Recreation District oversees an array of park projects, focusing on park facilities and recreational amenities. These projects will provide a stronger leisure experience for the public, with improvements to parks, trails, shelters, athletic fields and more.
Wastewater Projects
Johnson County Wastewater oversees projects focused on effective wastewater services in the county, with upgrades to treatment facilities and more. These projects consist of modernizing technology, expanding facilities and other efforts to improve wastewater cost and treatment.
Airport Projects
The Johnson County Airport Commission makes continual improvements to its airports, Johnson County Executive Airport and New Century AirCenter. This includes work on airport infrastructure such as taxiways and t-hangars, as well as its business park, water infrastructure and short line railroad.
