A lien release is a document that officially removes a lien from a title once the lienholder is paid in full. 

Why do I need a lien release?

If your vehicle title shows a lien and you have paid off the loan, you will need a lien release to change or transfer the title.

How do I get a lien release?

  1. Satisfy the terms of the loan by paying the balance of the loan in full. 
  2. Submit a request to your lender for proof that the loan has been satisfied. 

How do I submit a lien release?

When titling vehicles in person, bring the lien release with other required documents. You may also submit a lien release:
