An eviction mediation program has been developed in the 10th Judicial District. This program makes mediation mandatory if a tenant disagrees with the landlord’s eviction filing.

Mediation is a chance for a landlord and tenant to meet with a neutral third party. This trained person helps them discuss the issues and try to reach an agreement.
In Johnson County, mediations predominately happen in person. Mediations are generally confidential. This means the mediator will usually not share what was said during the mediation. The mediator only shared the agreement reached.
In Johnson County, mediation happens on our assigned court date, after denial at your appearance docket.
All mediators are approved dispute resolution providers. The guidelines for approval are in the Kansas Supreme Court rules.
