Epidemiology Division
The Epidemiology Division collects and analyzes data to inform policies, interventions and strategies to improve the community’s health. The division was created in 2020 and focuses on non-infectious disease epidemiology with an emphasis on the social drivers of health and their impact on Johnson County residents. The division works with individuals within DHE and partners throughout Johnson County. Areas of focus include housing, maternal and child health, behavioral health and substance use, environmental health, criminal justice, policy and health equity. To conduct this work, staff employ skills in data collection, data analysis, survey design, evaluation and systems thinking.

This form will allow us to assign the project to a member of the team based on capacity and the depth of the project request.

County Health Rankings 2020-2024 Peer Counties Analysis
- This report compares County Health Rankings (CHR) measures for Johnson County, Kansas to measures from a select group of peer counties from around the U.S. for the data release year and over a five-year period. Peer counties were previously determined by the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) due to key demographic, social and economic similarities to Johnson County.
Infant Mortality and Stillbirths 2022 Vital Records Report
- This vital records report highlights key data and trends in stillbirth and infant mortality rates in Johnson County through 2022.

- This data brief examines excessive alcohol consumption, focusing on binge drinking and alcohol use disorder. It also explores the health, social and economic impacts of alcohol use, disparities, and evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing excessive alcohol use.
