Since vape devices and products were introduced to the United States market in 2006-2007, research began to study the effects of these products on their users. That research is still in its infancy and involves many aspects, and it takes years to look at long-term effects.

  • E-cigarettes produce an aerosol by heating a liquid that usually contains nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals that help to make the aerosol.
  • The liquid used in e-cigarettes often contains nicotine and flavorings. This liquid is sometimes called “e-juice,” “e-liquid,” “vape juice,” or “vape liquid.”
  • Users inhale e-cigarette aerosol into their lungs. Bystanders can also breathe in this aerosol when the user exhales it into the air.

 

What Are the Different Vape Products

Popular terms for vaping devices include JUULs, e-cigarettes, e-cigs, smokeless cigarettes, vaporizers, vape, vape pens, vapor pens, mods, tanks, cigalikes, e-hookah, and hookah pens. These vary widely in size, shape, and design. Some look like computer flash drives or highlighters, while others are bulky and box-like.

Have you or youth you know heard of or know about RESIST? Resist works to counteract tobacco influences on Kansas’ youth. Resist is a statewide, youth-led movement that advocates for the de-normalization of tobacco use among youth and unites communities to create one voice against the tobacco industry. Youth not only participate in tobacco control and prevention activities, but they help design the program! Resist efforts lead to youth empowerment, advocacy, and policy change.
